HAZLE TOWNSHIP — It will take days to clean up the mess in one part of Luzerne County after three railroad cars carrying coal derailed Tuesday.
Newswatch 16 spoke with people Tuesday who live right near the railroad tracks in Jeddo; many of them have been there for decades and they say they have never ever seen anything like it
“Kathy Schlorf of Jeddo said, “we were here fourteen years and we’ve never ever seen anything like this.”
Reading and Northern Railroad officials were on scene investigating after the train went off the tracks.
Others who came out to check on the damage said it was a good thing the train jumped the tracks this time of year because the trees are frozen and the snow helped stop the coal.
The investigation will continue into the train derailment in Luzerne County.
