Diocese Of Scranton Priest To Be Bishop In Mississippi

SCRANTON — A priest from the Diocese of Scranton has been named the new bishop of Jackson, Mississippi.

Reverend Joseph Kopacz, pastor of Most Holy Trinity Parish, Mount Pocono, will be the eleventh bishop of the Diocese of Jackson.

Rev. Kopacz is a native of Dunmore and has served the Diocese of Scranton in various capacities.

He will be installed as the eleventh bishop of Jackson in February of 2014.

Many of his current and former parishioners are happy for Fr. Kopacz.
