SCOTT TOWNSHIP -- With Christmas Day just a few weeks away, some children in Lackawanna County got an early visit from Santa Claus thanks to an area fire department.
The Scott Township Hose Company hosted the "Breakfast with Santa" at its fire station on Sunday. Kids and their families got a chance to have a hearty meal and spend some time with neighbors during this holiday season.
The Justus Fire Department, boy scouts, and Lakeland basketball cheerleaders helped put on the event. Donations from businesses and local groups also went to make the breakfast with the jolly old St. Nick possible.
"We just figure the community, bring everybody together, it's Christmas time, we have free gifts for the kids, turning out to be really good," said Steve Pritchyck, a member of the Scott Hose Co. Fire Police.
Along with the free gift, kids got to smile for the camera with Santa and even had their faces painted.
