SCRANTON — There is quite a contraption towering in the Mall at Steamtown: a massive Ferris wheel built out of the toy K’nex.

Jeremy Biesecker has built big Ferris wheels like this before, but never this large. He believes it’s a world record breaker at 18 feet tall.

He’s building it as a way to raise money for the victims of last month’s typhoon in the Philippines. He’s put in 60 hours of work so far.

“There’s no blueprints, that would be practically impossible.  Just design it as I go, come up with a design, just build a little by little as it goes,” Biesecker explained.

Biesecker started work November 13. He expected to finish it Monday at the Mall at Steamtown in Scranton.
