TOBYHANNA -- Those who work at Tobyhanna Army Depot participated in an important mission to help kids enjoy the Christmas season.

Operation Santa Claus was held Wednesday night at the military facility in Monroe County.  Nearly 300 children with special needs attended the annual event complete with dancing, singing, lunch and snacks.

Kids from more than 20 school districts in our area participated and many got the chance to see Santa Claus. Organizers said it's a special two-day event to spread holiday cheer to all these youngsters.

"This is fabulous, we do this every year, there's nothing better than seeing these kids come here, smiling having fun, enjoying it, gets you into the Christmas season, they look forward to it," said Colleen Gavin, an organizer of Operation Santa Claus.

Operation Santa Claus is made possible by all the money that's raised throughout the year and will be held again Friday at the Army depot for another 200 children.
