SCRANTON -- There's a new look for what was once a pretty popular attraction in Lackawanna County.
Montage Mountain held a ribbon cutting late Wednesday afternoon, just two days before it opens for the season.
The grand reopening comes more than a year after the former "Snö Mountain" filed for bankruptcy.
The new owners said, that's all in the past, the place has been renovated, and is now back and better than ever.
Folks packed the lodge for the grand reopening of the the newly renovated ski area.
Skiers and snowboarders lined up to get their season tickets, and some people said the upgrades are amazing.
"My reaction was, I was really surprised with all the changes they made and all the renovations," said Antonio Mendicino of Moscow.
"I was like 'wow, this is much different,' the statue, it's all really cool. I feel like it's going to be awesome this year, it's going to be a year to remember," said Aidan Marcinko of Moscow.
The mountain is packed with upgrades, from a new rental and retail shop, with lots of new rental equipment, to the bar area which has a more modern feel to it, and fire place has a new facade.
The slopes have a new groomer and a new plaza area with a fire pit that welcomes snowboarders and skiers inside.
Also renovated is Montage Mountain's food area, all new vendors, all new floors, and brand new counter tops.
The grand opening comes more than a year after Snö Mountain filed for bankruptcy in March of 2012, but new owners took over in 2013 and poured in millions of dollars to bring the mountain back, something they said is very important for this area and the economy.
"There's a lot of jobs up here. We employ about 400 people, and we're really happy to stay and remain and be committed to the community," said Jessica Kalinoski, Director of Operations.
"We have a ton of people from the Philadelphia market, the Harrisburg market, Washington market, who come over here to ski. They stay at our hotels, they go to our restaurants, and they see all the great things that we know, and that's why it's really important," said Mayor Chris Doherty, Scranton.
Montage Mountain will be open for snowboarders and skiers to take on the slopes on Friday beginning at 9 a.m., with seven slopes open for runs.
