HAZLETON — A furlough for 50 city workers in Hazleton scheduled to start Monday, has been postponed a week.
Hazleton is facing a $500,000 budget gap. The city planned to furlough about half of its workers. The rest, like police and firefighters, would work without pay through the end of the year.
According to Hazleton Mayor Joe Yanuzzi, the furloughs will be put off one week due to various payroll and union reasons. That means the furloughs will not take effect until December 9.
