LOWER TOWAMENSING TOWNSHIP -- Fire destroyed a home and damaged three others in Carbon County Sunday morning.

A pile of smoking rubble and ash is all that remains of the place on Little Gap Road outside Palmerton.

The remains were still smoldering 12 hours after the blaze that leveled the home.

According to published reports, the fire started around 3 a.m. The heat was so intense it melted the siding on two homes next door and a house across the street.

The blaze also damaged power lines, which were being repaired by utility crews when Newswatch 16 was on the scene.

No one was hurt in the fire. There is no word on how the fire started.
