STROUDSBURG -- Teams of volunteers in the Poconos delivered warm, home-cooked Thanksgiving meals to their neighbors in need.
The teams are from the Light of the World Church in Stroudsburg.
Inside the Light of the World Church in downtown Stroudsburg, a crowd of church and community volunteers forms an assembly line to feed those in need.
Plate after plate went down the line, each person adding some Thanksgiving meal trimming to the dish.
More than 400 meals are being prepared.
"It's a beautiful thing to get so many people involved and really take care of those who can't take care of themselves, and I think there's no better way to say thanks than to give," said Light of the World Church Pastor Angelo Pierri.
The meals are then boxed up and delivered.
Lydia Marchesani has been helping to feed those in need since she was a little girl. She says this is the best way she can think of celebrating Thanksgiving.
"There is nothing better than being able to give to somebody. A lot of times, they're, like, 'For me?' It really blesses them and that's the biggest joy you can have on Thanksgiving," said Marchesani of East Stroudsburg.
One of the places the volunteers make a stop to deliver meals is at Westgate Apartments in downtown Stroudsburg. It's where about 70 meals will be delivered, all with a personal touch.
Once the team of volunteers organizes where they're going, they spring into action, going door to door to provide a Thanksgiving Day meal.
"It's nice because we really don't have the money to go out and buy a turkey. It makes the holiday a lot happier," said Eric Allman of Stroudsburg.
Other residents were so touched, they could barely express their gratitude in words and instead gave hugs.
