GOULDSBORO -- There was a happy ending to a search for a missing hiker in Monroe County Saturday night.

Police said the search in Gouldsboro State Park began just after 5:00 p.m.

Ranger units, firefighters, and other emergency personnel spent nearly four hours on the trails, in below freezing temperatures before finding the woman.

Rangers said despite being under dressed for the weather, the woman is okay, but she was taken to a hospital to be checked out.

“The best advice I have for anyone venturing into the woods in northeastern Pennsylvania, especially this time of year is dress well, be prepared, and watch your time.  Watch when sunset is, because that is also a very big factor in getting out of the woods on time,” said Ranger, Jen Bowman.

Officials said the woman was hiking with a companion, when the two became separated in the park in Monroe County.
