JENKINS TOWNSHIP -- Police filed new charges against a man accused of injuring two children in Luzerne County.

Police say Eric Phillips was first arrested after he opened fire in a development in Luzerne County and put a school on lock down.

It was the second time in one week that Phillips was led out of courtroom in handcuffs.

At an arraignment in Hanover Township officers filed new charges of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment for injuries to a 2-year-old boy.

“These are all false charges,” Phillips said.

Phillips was first arrested on Monday.

Jenkins Township police say Phillips got into a fight with his girlfriend inside her home on Willow Road and pushed her to the ground while holding a 1-month-old infant.

Court records indicate that the infant fell head first onto a hardwood floor. The baby was flown to Geisinger Medical Center near Danville with a fractured skull.

New court documents say a 2-year-old child also inside that home heard Phillips threaten to kill his girlfriend, and then shoot himself.  Police say the boy was hit in the nose during the scuffle and saw Phillips fire four shots from a handgun toward his girlfriend.

Authorities say they later found Phillips holed up inside his parents’ house on Main Street in Laflin.

People who live in the development where the fight happened told Newswatch 16 that they've heard yelling in the house  and knew there were problems.

Court records show that the girlfriend filed a protection from abuse order against Phillips last year. It was later withdrawn.  Records say the girlfriend told a judge that the two were receiving counseling.

Officials say the girlfriend and the 2-year-old have been released from the hospital. The1-month-old boy is still in the hospital with head trauma.

Phillips is locked up again. His bail is now set at $550,000.
