SCOTT TOWNSHIP — Supervisors with a township in Lackawanna County took another step in severing ties with its disgraced police chief Thursday night.
Scott Township supervisors voted unanimously to strip James Romano of his health benefits.
Last week Romano pleaded no contest to charges of hindering prosecution.
He has not yet been sentenced.
State prosecutors accused Romano of having an inappropriate relationship with a potential witness in a child sex assault case.
Romano remains chief, but he has been suspended without pay for the past seven months.
