Witnesses Help Track Down Accused Thief

PLYMOUTH — Some good Samaritans helped police in Luzerne County track down the person accused of stealing money from a man with Parkinson’s disease.

Officers said last week Asa Lakey told the victim he was a marine home on leave and offered to help him walk down the street.  When the man sat down outside a bank on Main Street in Plymouth, Lakey allegedly grabbed his wallet and ran.

Police said three people heard the victim’s screams for help and tried to chase the suspect.  They were able to get a description of Lakey and called police.

Officers said Lakey was found at a home in Luzerne County last Friday.
