DANVILLE -- The votes are in, and the winner of a national breast cancer awareness competition is Geisinger Health System.

It was the moment these employees of Geisinger Medical Center had been waiting for. Geisinger Health System was named the winner of a national breast cancer awareness competition called the "Pink Glove Dance".

More than 1,000 Geisinger employees, community members, and cancer survivors were featured in the 90-second video, which was recorded in Scranton, Wilkes Barre, Danville, and Shamokin.

"The video itself took about a week and a half of taping. Hours of taping that went on," Susan Hallick said.

More than 200 people came to Geisinger near Danville for the big announcement and performed their "Pink Glove Dance" on national television.

"We've just been shocked by the support and the amount of people who came out. People were lined up at the door at 5:30 to get in here and be part of this," Robin Adams said.

As the winners of the Pink Glove Dance, Geisinger Medical Center wins $25,000 to donate to the charity of their choice, which is the American Cancer Society. All of the money stays local and it will go towards transporting cancer patients to and from their appointments.

"A lot of patients, especially in our rural community have to travel at lengths to get to treatments. The services that the American Cancer Society provides are just amazing," Terry Genners said.

Many of the Geisinger employees who participated in the video are cancer survivors themselves.

"My mother, me and my sister have all had breast cancer. And to see the way technology has improved from my mother to me to my sister, this money is really going to a good cause," Susan Hopper said.

The prize for second place went to another hospital in Pennsylvania, Hershey Medical Center.
