MOOSIC — PennDOT says the Veterans Day observance and snow earlier this week pushed a bridge inspection on Interstate 81 to today.

The project is causing big backups on Interstate 81 north near the Moosic exit (180) where traffic is down to one lane.

PennDOT usually doesn’t do bridge inspections on the interstate on Friday, but today was the only day the crane was available for the routine inspection.

Officials expect Interstate 81 north near Moosic to be open to two lanes by Friday afternoon in Lackawanna County.
