WEST PITTSTON -- An agency believes a borough in Luzerne County hit hard by the flood of 2011 may be able to gain government funding because of its historic relevance.

The federal emergency management agency hosted a presentation in West Pittston Thursday night.

The presentation focused on the historical significance of the architecture found in the borough.

The agency said that if West Pittston is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the government could make funding available to protect many of the borough's century old homes.
