Schuylkill County Commissioners approved the first tax hike for the county in nearly a decade.
It’s part of the preliminary budget commissioners voted for on Wednesday. The average homeowner in the county would have a $60 per year increase in their county taxes.
One commissioner said the tax hike is to deal with growing healthcare, pension plans, adult probation and other costs.
