SCOTT TOWNSHIP -- Heather Sorensen, 42, of Clifford has been identified as the victim of a fatal collision Saturday night on Peaceful Valley Road in Scott Township.

Investigators said shortly after 7 p.m. she was hit by a vehicle and taken to a local hospital where she later died.

Some neighbors on the typically quiet road did not realize until Sunday that this occurred just yards from their homes.

"It's really sad, and it is kind of scary too," Ruth Davis said.

On Sunday at house number 187, a search warrant could be seen wedged in the front door.

Investigators said the car involved in the collision which happened just steps away from that door, has been impounded.

No charges have been filed against the driver, who officials have not identified.

When Newswatch 16 arrived at the property, several people declined to comment.

This is not the first time police had been called to the area.

According to published reports, back in July of 2012, Sorensen's boyfriend, who lives at 187 Peaceful Valley Road was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and several other related counts. At that time, prosecutors told reporters the man attacked Sorensen and threatened to run over her teenage daughter with his truck.

The case is being investigated by Scott Township Police.

Detectives are not saying if there is any connection between Saturday night's collision and the alleged incident in 2012.
