EDWARDSVILLE — people who use a senior center in Luzerne County will have to find a new place to go.
The Edwardsville Senior Center is closing Friday. Officials tell us about 40 seniors visit the center daily for lunch and other services.
The Agency on Aging tells Newswatch 16 the building, owned by the borough, needs extensive repairs and Edwardsville does not have the money needed to fix the problems.
One woman who uses the center tells us closing it is like splitting up a family.
“It’s a very close knit friendly group and it’s a good opportunity to get out, people to have something to eat, to socialize, and no problems so they are heartbroken,” said Janet Strish, of Larksville.
Officials tell us transportation will be provided to other senior centers.
