PITTSTON -- One day after the general election in Pennsylvania, there was more campaigning. Governor Tom Corbett stopped in the Pittston area Wednesday afternoon as part of his 2014 re-election campaign.

"I am pleased to be able to tell you, that I'm running for governor one more time in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," said Corbett.

Governor Corbett toured the offices of Linde Corporation, an infrastructure contractor near Pittston that has grown sharply in recent years, due to its business with natural gas drillers.

That plays directly into Corbett's theme for his re-election: Job creation and keeping taxes in check.

"I guarantee there are people in Harrisburg that are a little surprised by the promises we made that we were going to live within our budget. They were more surprised because we did live within our budget," said Corbett.

Corbett goes into 2014 with historically low numbers in statewide approval polls, and a number of national pundits think his re-election chances are less than 50-50.

The governor refutes the notion that he has cut funding to education, saying the state pays more to schools now than ever before.

He is also pledging to continue work on his other legislative objectives like funding for roads, and reforming the state's pension system.

"More jobs, less taxes. Promises kept because we keep our promises," Corbett told a cheering crowd.
