WILKES-BARRE -- A call for help from a home in Wilkes-Barre led to an overnight investigation.

Police say a 46-year-old man was found dead on the kitchen floor and now authorities are trying to figure what led to the death.

According to investigators, a call for help at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday came from a woman who told police she walked in 320 East Northampton Street and found a man unconscious on the kitchen floor.  Moments later emergency crews arrived, the sounds of sirens catching the attention of neighbors.

“Middle of the night you hear doors slamming, car horns blowing,” said neighbor Michael Martin describing the scene.

The man found not moving inside the kitchen never made it out alive.   The Luzerne County coroner was called in soon after.

While the relationship the woman had with the man who she found in the home is unclear, neighbors say with so many unknown, they’re having a lot more questions and seeing so much police activity around the heights section lately is quite unsettling.'

People living nearby, including Tony Bauer and Darlene Hughes, think there’s much more to this story, considering the hours police spent in and outside this home in the city’s heights section.

“To be honest with you, there’s a lot of stuff happening,” Bauer said.

“If you see this going on when you turn the TV on at 5 a.m. and you see this in Wilkes-Barre close to your home, you’re afraid to walk to work in the morning,” said Hughes.

Fears that neighbors say could be calmed once more answers come out about this death investigation.

Wednesday afternoon, investigators identified the man found dead.
