POTTSVILLE -- There will be a new mayor in Pottsville.

Democrat James Muldowney, the former city council member, is the projected winner.

Muldowney had the endorsement of the outgoing mayor John Reiley.

The mayor-elect talked about the possibility of regionalizing area police forces.

“We need to really look into it and hopefully it’s somewhere we can go with it. It’ll bring more resources to our police forces in the area,” Muldowney said.

Republican Scott Thomas called Muldowney to congratulate him on the victory.
