WILKES-BARRE — A man from Luzerne County will spend up to 71 years behind bars for child sex abuse.

Robert Caravella was convicted last year of sexually abusing a boy. It was last December that both Robert Caravella and Carol Hann were convicted of sexually abusing a boy at their home in Plymouth.

In March, Carol Hann was sentenced to 20 to 41 years in prison for rape and other sex abuse charges.

On Monday, Caravella got an even harsher sentence.

In December, a jury ruled that he and Carol Hann abused a boy from the time he was 7 until he was 12.

Caravella will now spend 35 and a half to 71 years behind bars for those crimes.

Police say he first showed the boy pornography when the boy was just 7 years old. He then encouraged the boy to have sex with Carol Hann and Caravella would watch.

Caravella was also accused of sexually assaulting two young girls in 2011.  That was when children and youth workers took the boy from the home in Plymouth.

At their trial last year, Caravella and Hann both took the stand and said the charges were lies.

Caravella is now classified as a sexually violent predator.

The two years that Caravella has already served will count toward his sentence.

Hann is already serving time for her charges.
