MOUNTAINHOME — A well-known candy man in the Poconos has died.

Harry Callie, owner of Callie’s Candy Kitchen in Mountainhome, passed away last week.

Callie opened his first store in Northampton County in 1953, and in 1972, moved the business to Monroe County.

Two years ago, Callie was named to the Candy Hall of Fame at an award ceremony in Florida.

“Any way he could, he was there for people, so that’s what they’ll remember, I think. No matter what he had going on in his life, he always made time for other people,” said Callie’s son-in-law Mark Reisenwitz, vice president of Callie’s Candy Kitchen.

Harry Callie was 80 years old.
