SHENANDOAH -- You'll find plenty of scary and funny images in downtown Shenandoah during this season of ghosts, goblins, and witches.

About 100 high school students from Shenandoah Valley are responsible for transforming the community.  They're painting Halloween images on about two dozen store front windows.

Jobe Sanko said he likes his painting.

"It's Edward Scissorhands. She drew the picture and we've been here an hour and a half now."

Brittany Joseph said taking the classroom outdoors is great.

"This is my first year doing this because they usually like the older kids to get a chance to do it and I think it's neat."

There is more to the work here between the students.

"It's a day you can spend bonding together and we work together as a team put the windows up and it's fun to see when it all comes out, " Tabitha Collins explained.

Of course the students had to get permission from businesses to allow them to use their windows as canvass.  Donut shop owner Rhonda Luettgen said she was glad to help.

"It's great for the holiday season and they seem to have a real nice time decorating the whole town and people like to come out and look at all the different windows."

The Halloween murals have gone over so well that school officials are thinking of bringing the kids back for a Christmas theme.
