WILKES-BARRE -- Eight people can't stay in their homes after a fire sparked in a double block home in Wilkes-Barre, and investigators say they still don't know how it started.

These are the flames that erupted on North Main Street in Wilkes-Barre Sunday night.

This cell phone video, sent to Newswatch 16 by a neighbor, shows the fire that forced eight people out of this double block home.

"The family here, they have a new baby. They have small children. This guy, he said he just was inside the shower. He ran out. He had no clothes on," a neighbor told Newswatch 16.

Code enforcement isn't letting anyone into the three apartments inside the building. A neighbor who didn't want to be identified says her kids are friends with some of the children who lived here. She says she didn't realize the house was on fire until she saw it.

"The children actually, they heard popping noises, and they said 'It's fireworks outside!' so I look out the window and we were the popping and it was crazy," said the neighbor.

The chief says the fire stuck to the upstairs of the building but because of water and smoke damage, all eight people living here were forced out.

"At least one of the apartments, everything is gone. But yeah, it's tough but the way we look at this is everyone got out and everyone is safe and they're able to talk about it," said Wilkes-Barre Fire Chief Jay Delaney.

Fire officials say the Red Cross is helping one of the families.  The other two people are staying with friends. No one was hurt but neighbors say they cant comprehend this kind of loss.

"I wouldn't know what to do. The children came over here. They said 'all our toys are in there. We don't even have school clothes to wear tomorrow to school. Their everything's in there," said the neighbor.

Once again, no one was hurt. Investigators hope to determine the cause of this fire later this week.
