Ground Broken For Scranton Revitalization Project
SCRANTON — United Neighborhood Centers broke ground Friday on the third and final phase of the revitalization project in the Cedar Avenue area of Scranton.
The social service group already finished an apartment building with commercial space.
The last phase includes building single family homes and apartments along with refurbishing four old buildings and turning them into apartments.
“When there’s more people living here, those businesses will be more viable. There will be more people shopping in the shops along the corridor and there are now people looking for investment opportunities here in south side, they now see this as a place where they want to invest their money,” said Michael Hanley of United Neighborhood Centers.
The entire project should be finished in the fall of next year.
