Kingston Sergeant to be Promoted to Chief

KINGSTON — The Luzerne County community of Kingston is set to bring on a new police chief.

Michael Krzywicki, a sergeant with the department, will take over as chief early in November.  Sergeant Krzywicki has been filling in as interim police chief since June.  He has been a member of the Kingston Police Department since 1993.

Sergeant Krzywicki is scheduled to be sworn in at a Kingston council meeting on Wednesday, November 6 at the Municipal Building.

The former police chief, Keith Keiper, resigned earlier this year following an Action 16 report.

An investigation discovered Kingston police officers were receiving under the table payments providing security at sporting events and at middle school dances in the municipality.
