Father Sentenced In Accidental Shooting

HONESDALE — A father in Wayne County who pleaded guilty to accidentally shooting his daughter in the face was sentenced Thursday.

Matthew Holmes, 39, of Honesdale was sentenced to 45 days to 12 months behind bars after the gun he was handling went off, hitting his 15-year-old daughter in the jaw.

The shooting happened in May at a home along 11th Street in Honesdale.

His daughter recovered after spending several weeks in the hospital.
