WILKES-BARRE — A man from Luzerne County will spend the next eight to 16 years behind bars for an assault with a machete.

A judge sentenced Juan Borbon Monday morning.

Last month, Borbon was convicted of using a machete to attack a teenager in February of 2012 outside GAR High School.

The victim says he was trying to break up a fight when he was slashed by Borbon and nearly lost his hand.
