DUNMORE -- Interstate 81 North in Lackawanna County reopened after one lane was shut down for emergency bridge repairs.

According to PennDOT officials, a large hole opened up on the Main Avenue bridge at the Dickson City/Main Avenue exit (190).

PennDOT said traffic piled up past the Dunmore/Throop exit, moving at only a slow crawl throughout the day.

Police blocked off the ramp from the O'Neill highway to 81 north.

The problems all started around 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Officials say crews discovered a large three by four foot hole in the Main Avenue Bridge's northbound passing lane.

PennDOT said the lane was reopened around 3 p.m.

Glad they spent all summer milking that section of interstate for a “quality” job well done. Although wnep didnt play it over the air, i called talkback 16 and said this kind of stuff was going to happen. If they cant get it done right, find someone who can. Its never ending with “emergency” construction and repairs on that dam* exit
