Church Holds Fall Greek Fest
SCRANTON — A Greek food festival in Scranton is so popular, the church decided to hold another one this year.
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on North Washington Avenue is having a scaled down version of its annual summertime festival. It’s the Gyro Festival, focusing on the most popular foods.
The church is undergoing a renovation project and thought this was a good way to make some extra money for it, especially since so many people have been asking for more.
“Phone calls, faxes, people in the supermarket, everywhere! So we thought let’s give it a try,” said Sophia Fives, an organizer.
The Gyro Festival in downtown Scranton runs Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
