DANVILLE — A man in Montour County is facing arson charges.
Police in Danville said Jeffery Shearer, 64, poured lighter fluid on steps at an apartment building on Pine Street and tried to start a fire Wednesday night.
Officers said nine people were inside the building at the time, but no one was hurt.
Investigators said a person inside the place stomped out the fire before the flames spread.
Shearer denied the charges, but can’t explain why he had lighter fluid with him.
Shearer is locked up on $100,000 bail.
