Thirty years ago, the city of Shamokin was rocked by the news that a police corporal had been gunned down.

Three decades years later we have learned, the cop killer died in prison.

Preston Pfeifly died on October 12 at the State Prison at Rockview. He was 63 years old.

His trial was back in 1984. He gunned down Shamokin Police officer David Witmer in November 1983.

We opened the Video Vault, and found an account of the murder trial, from Newswatch 16's Craig Stevens 29 years ago.
