No Tax Increase In Proposed Wilkes-Barre Budget
WILKES-BARRE — Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tom Leighton has released his budget proposal for 2014 which includes no tax increase.
Last year, property taxes went up 26 percent to balance the budget..
The mayor says this past year, several positions were eliminated through attrition and some departments have been asked to make cuts.
Mayor Leighton added that he would like to hire 10 new police officers to help combat crime in Wilkes-Barre.
