SHENANDOAH — What’s better on a cool, rainy day than a hot bowl of soup?  That’s what they were serving up in Schuylkill County.

Downtown Shenandoah Inc., a nonprofit group, sold all kinds of soup on Thursday.

Organizers tell us proceeds from the soup sale will be used to revitalize and attract new businesses to the downtown.

“We do well on this. We do well on this because everything is donated, so everything is clear profit,” said Mary Luscavage.

To be eligible for state grants, the group says it needs to raise $250,000. So far, more than $100,000 has been raised.

The soup sales will continue every second Thursday of the month through March.
