Toy Run Benefits Social Services
SCOTT TOWNSHIP — Dozens of bikers in Wayne and Lackawanna counties were thinking ahead to the Christmas season.
The first ever “Fill-the-Sleigh Motorcycle Toy Run” hit the road Sunday.
Riders had to bring a new unwrapped toy to take part in the ride, which went from Honesdale to the Scott Township Hose Company.
Organizers said they got the idea for the ride, after hearing the story of a little boy who got his first Christmas gift when he was seven-years-old.
“He had never gotten a Christmas gift before in his life. We don’t want to see that happen if we can help it. We just want to put smiles on children’s faces,” said Skip Spedding.
The toys will go to catholic social services in Wayne and Lackawanna counties, to be distributed to less fortunate families during the holiday season.
