Luzerne County 911 dispatchers say police were called to Hazle Mart on Hazle Street in Wilkes-Barre after 1 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery.
It's unclear what type of weapon or how much cash was taken.
Police responding to the call engaged in a chase that ended in the parking lot of Kmart in Edwardsville, just off of Route 11.
People shopping inside the Kmart told us they had no idea that a wanted man ran through the store until they came outside and saw all of the police vehicles.
Officers are still looking for the suspected robber who they fear is armed and dangerous.
Police cruisers converged at Kmart along Route 11 in Edwardsville where the car they were chasing finally stopped.
Dispatchers say police were called to the Hazle Mart convenience store in Wilkes-Barre around 1:30 p.m. for a reported armed robbery.
Police driving to the call started pursuing a car that they were told was used in the holdup.
Authorities chased the car for several miles until it finally stopped in Edwardsville in the Kmart parking lot.
Newswatch 16 found the silver sedan in the parking lot surrounded by police.
One woman was quickly taken into custody. Police believe she was driving the car.
As more than a dozen police cruisers rushed to the shopping plaza, officers say the man suspected of robbing the convenience store ran into the Kmart past shoppers and out a back emergency door setting off an alarm.
Marc Catanzariti says he didn't realize what was going on until after he left the store with his 3-year-old daughter.
"The alarm just went off and they really didn't say anything when they went in the store. I came outside (and) they said that somebody armed and dangerous ran through the back and set the alarms off. The cops were looking for him."
Officers told administrators at the nearby Children's Behavioral Health Services to keep kids and employees inside as state troopers and police from Edwardsville, Kingston and, Forty Fort searched the woods looking for the robber.
No shoppers were hurt during the incident. It's still unclear if the man had a weapon when he ran through the store.
Police have not released a name or description of the robber. They'll only say he should be considered dangerous.
