JIM THORPE -- It is officially fall and in Jim Thorpe, the pumpkins are out and the leaves are turning, ready to pop into a colorful display that draws thousands to that part of Carbon County each October.

Already, tourists are there, enjoying what Mother Nature has to offer, including some folks from across the pond.

"This has been the best weather we've experienced here in the states. We come here usually in September for a month, but this is undoubtedly been the best weather we've experienced. It is fantastic, long may it continue," said Jim Bass, of England.

"The weather has been absolutely incredible, we find that this is the best time of year and we try to come every September, October and we've never been let down by the weather yet," said Edwina Bass.

David Holmes operates Jim Tours Town Tours and said the past two weeks have been perfect, weather-wise.

"It's one of our most popular times of the year, on weekends, we have a festival here in the park. Yahoo! says we're the number one leaf-watching spot on the East Coast," said Holmes.

There are special fall foliage weekends in Jim Thorpe through October.

So far, the weather continues to look good, which is good news for those who are taking time to visit and enjoy Jim Thorpe.

"We've been the Jersey beach and everything like that, but this is the place where we were told it would be the best, it would be grandest," said Don Golvier of Delware.

Folks at the Jim Thorpe Visitor Center predict the foliage will be at its peak in the next week or so.
