ATLAS -- Flames raced through a neighborhood in Northumberland County Tuesday morning causing damage to several buildings.
Responders said the fire started in a vacant house on West Girard Street in Atlas around 3 a.m. The flames soon spread to nearby structures.
Firefighters tell Newswatch 16 only one person was living in one of the buildings. The rest were vacant.
Girard Street and Route 61 leading into Mount Carmel are closed while crews are mopping up.
There is no word on the cause.
