HAZLETON — The chief of police in Hazleton was back on the job Monday after his crash last week.
Chief Frank DeAndrea was in an unmarked police vehicle when it crashed with a car on North Cedar Street.
He says he held down his horn responding to a burglary call because that vehicle does not have a siren.
“The Superior or Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has ruled that on an undercover or an unmarked police vehicle, a horn counts as an audible warning device,” Chief DeAndrea said.
The chief says the investigation into the crash and who was at fault will not be turned over to state police because if there is any violation, it would be a summary offense and nothing more serious than that.
