ARCHBALD -- Newswatch 16 now knows the names of the two people killed in a crash in Lackawanna County.

Authorities said that Allison Howell, 63, of Forest City was working in a parking lot along Business Route 6 when he was hit and killed by a car.

Police in Archbald are still investigating the tragic crash. Officials said the driver of the car, Lawrence Gabriel, 82, of Carbondale, later died at the hospital.

Witnesses say the construction worker was working in the parking lot near this busy road. They say that's when a driver who was traveling westbound lost control of his car and went off the road.

"The driver of the vehicle appeared to be seriously injured. He was transported to the local trauma center via the EMS," said Archbald Police Chief Tim Trently.

That driver later died at a hospital. The construction worker was dead at the scene.

Workers in a shopping center say the man was working on sealing the parking lot for a few days.

Workers we talked to didn't want to go on camera because many of them witnessed or heard the deadly crash.

"We are trying to put the pieces together. We did have numerous witnesses to the event. So for us that's a good help, so we'll be following up on that," said Chief Trently.
