The State Public Utility Commission says customers within the 570 area code will now have to dial 10 digits while making local calls.

Those people will have to dial the area code plus the phone number in order for the call to go through.

The change is due to a new area code that will be introduced October 21st.

The new area code, 272, will only be given to local customers who receive a new phone after that date. They new area codes also requires the customer to dial 10 digits.

Anyone with problems making phone calls is asked to call their local telephone provider.
