SCRANTON — Demolition started Thursday on Leahy Hall at the University of Scranton.

We found heavy machinery ripping down the back wall of the building along Linden Street and Jefferson Avenue in downtown Scranton.

Once the building is demolished, crews will begin construction on a $47.5 million facility that will house the occupational therapy, physical therapy and exercise science departments.

The project was delayed by a battle in court over whether the building should be torn down.  A judge allowed the demolition to move forward in August.

The new building is expected to be finished in the fall of 2015 at the University of Scranton.
