BLOOMSBURG -- The Bloomsburg Fair is almost here; all the fun starts on Friday.

Before Pennsylvania's largest fair opens, there is a lot of work to be done.   We got a look at the rush underway to get ready.

We know how busy the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds are during the fair but even days before, this place is buzzing.

Hundreds of thousands of fair-goers will start showing up in two days.

"Oh, there's a lot of work that goes on to get ready. There's a lot of stands we have.  There's a lot of preparations for this baby. This is the grandfather of all the fairs," said Gary Weaver.

Weaver comes from Bellefonte with Snyder's Concessions.

"We'll be ready to go. I should be ready tomorrow.  Good Lord willing we'll be ready."

"Takes a lot of work," said Mary Mensinger. "We've been doing stuff for two weeks to get everything set up."

As she set up her stand, she says it's all worth it.

"I like it because I'm from the Bloomsburg area, see a lot of friends, classmates that you haven't seen in a while that only come back for the fair."

This year there is double the number of cars on the skyride at the fair.  All of them have been weight tested, three days of inspections to make sure they are ready, just one of many preparations for the crowds at the fair.

All 120 of those skyride cars also need to be washed. There are booths to be decorated, rides to be painted and prepared, many game tables to be assembled, and still a lot to be unloaded.

"We got here Monday. We'll just about get done in time."

At one of the stands for Michael's Concessions from Shickshinny, Chris Foley didn't even have time to stop during our interview.

"We have five stands here so, of course, it's going to be hectic.  Got to go between them, check them," Foley said. "You get enough sleep when you're dead."

The Bloomsburg Fair starts with a preview day starting at 2 p.m. Friday.  The fair officially opens on Saturday and runs through the following Saturday.  Gates are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
