LIBERTY TOWNSHIP -- State police in Tioga County aren't saying much about the weekend shooting that killed an 82-year-old man and sent his wife to the hospital

All we know is that troopers are searching for a person of interest.

State police aren't saying if the shooting was random or not. Troopers spent hours Monday sifting through the crime scene north of Williamsport  in Tioga County, trying to paint a better picture of what happened.

Neighbors say they're still in shock.

"We were devastated.  We're all scared now because we're afraid it's going to happen to one of us."

State police say Oliver Litzelman, 82, and Edwina Litzelman, 81, were shot inside their home along Route 414 Friday. They weren't discovered until early Sunday morning.

Neighbor Patrick Plank lives nearby and was home Friday, but didn't hear anything unusual and says the couple were well liked.

"Very nice people, very well known, nice to everybody. They got along with everybody."

According to troopers, they don't know yet if the attack was random or someone the couple knew. Police say neighbors shouldn't be fearful, but concerned.

Plank and other neighbors say they've heard rumors of why the shooting happened.

"Lady broke in, demanded money and they said all their money was in the bank they didn't have any on them."

As police continue working to figure out what happened at the Litzelman's home, neighbors say they're keeping their doors locked and their eyes open.

"Most of the people never lock their doors around here because nothing ever happened like that, but now they're going to be locking their doors and they're going to have their guns by their side loaded," Plank said.

State police in Tioga County also can't say for certain if anything was stolen from inside the home.

They say there is a person of interest: a white, middle aged woman possibly driving a green sedan.

"We're hoping they find them very soon, very quickly, so that way it will ease our minds a little better," Plank added.
