SCRANTON -- Dozens of dogs removed from a home in Wayne County last weekend were the inspiration for this fundraiser Sunday in Lackawanna County.

"What the Fork?" food truck was on Viewmont Drive in Scranton Sunday afternoon for the first ever Forking Amazing Fundraiser.

The chef of the food truck wanted to help Dessin Animal Shelter after 55 dogs were removed from a home in Waymart.  He donated a portion of Sunday's sales, as well as $500 worth of dog food to the shelter.

Many of the people who came for the food also dropped off pet and cleaning supplies.  Organizers said their donations will help all of the animals at the shelter.

"So this is not just aiding those 55 dogs that were rescued, but this is aiding the dogs and the cats and even the livestock that come to us at the shelter.  So it's really an amazing huge help," said Dara Coslett Granza.

Shelter officials said some of the rescued dogs will be ready for adoption soon.
