A mud run in the Poconos has been canceled, just two weeks before it was scheduled to take place.

The event was set for Pocono Raceway.

A woman from Pottsville who signed up to take part is wondering why the race was canceled on such short notice.

"We had been training. It's just disappointing," said Danielle Quinn.

Quinn paid to participate in The Great American Mud Run on September 28 at Pocono Raceway.

Quinn says she received an e-mail from the event coordinator saying the mud run "regrettably have to cancel the event".

"It's disappointing. My mom just turned 50 this year and it was going to be her first 5K. And she's really excited to do it and to do it along with me," said Quinn.

Another part of the e-mail that's upsetting to Danielle is the mud run "will not offer refunds for any reason, to include event cancellation".

"We'd like to get a refund of our money back. That way we can apply it to another race," said Quinn.

An open field outside the race track is where The Great American Mud Run was supposed to take place in two weeks.

Pocono Raceway officials say they received an email letting them know that the event has been canceled.

However, Pocono Raceway officials say that up to the day they received the e-mail, on Monday, they never signed a contract to have the event at the raceway.

In addition, representatives with that mud run never came out to the area to figure out exactly where the mud run would go.

Pocono Raceway officials say they will not do business with this company in the future.

And neither will Danielle.

"Who wants to risk signing up for that, training for an event, then for it not to occur," said Quinn.

The Great American Mud Run also canceled a race set for this weekend in Ohio.
