Super 16 Team #5 Selinsgrove Seals
Momentum is everything and the Selinsgrove football team is riding it going into the 2013 season. Coming off 10 wins a year ago Dave Hess returns a core of talent in the backfield with sophomore Juvon Batts, junior Zach Adams, and senior Connor Liesenfeld.
“We start from square once again this year, but we can certainly move thru things a little more quickly because we had our freshman up last year. Their all sophomores now they all know the system so I think our coaching is a little easier this year,” said Dave Hess.
Last year freshman running back Juvon Batts emerged onto the scene for Selinsgrove helping them to a 10 win season mainly running on his skill and speed. In the off-season Dave Hess stressed more coaching with Juvon to turn him into a complete back.
“Now this year he’s in a situation where we can coach him. We can talk to him a little bit more. He’s not getting confused. So we’re in good shape with him,” again said Dave.
Opening up holes on the line for Selinsgrove is big #64 John Daku. His strength equally matches his quickness.
“The entire line is skilled-everybody has their own things their great at. Everybody on the line is quick-great fast offensive line this year. It’s going to be amazing to watch-amazing to be a part of. I’m looking forward to it completely,” said John Daku.
The Seals difficult schedule includes Berwick and Danville at home and Southern and Mt. Carmel on the road.
“We have no meaningless games. Their all meaningful games with good football programs. That’s just the way we operate here. We like that.
