SCRANTON -- Nearly a hundred runners hit the pavement Sunday morning in Scranton to help in the fight against cancer.

The 21st annual Hook O'Malley 5k road race against cancer took runners through Mcdade Park.

Paul "Hook" O'Malley's children hold this race every year in his honor. He passed away in 1992 after a battle with brain cancer.

"It's just been a great day. For me and my siblings, this is about our dad, this is where his spirit lies at Mcdade Park. He'd be very happy and I'm sure he's looking down on us with the grace of god," said Patrick O'Malley.

All the money raised from the Hook O'Malley 5k benefits the Lackawanna County unit of the American Cancer Society.
